Hi! I did something a bit different. By searching old newspaper articles, I was able to chronicle a comprehensive history of adult education in Muncie, Indiana. Please feel free to let me know if it is informative and what I can do to improve it. You will have to pause the video because it goes too fast. https://ballstate-my.sharepoint.com/:v:/g/personal/lsprater_bsu_edu/EY9OQ0GuncBDhWAEIVR0cLoBSJRpZcc2jHaWxBQ9Hme5_A?e=r7Hp64 Thanks and have a wonderful day! Luther I responded to Ashten Lail's paper.
Jacob I liked your points about civilian and military federal education. Many times in the military we laughed at the training we received thinking it was not very good. Moving over to the civilian sector I can now say that federal employee training is second to none. Training was always occurring when you were not performing you job. We trained to prepare for training. We even had a saying, “if it ain’t raining we ain’t training.”
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have half the training options For my facility that federal employees have. We could become a world class facility that would be the envy of companies around the world.
Jacob,
ReplyDeleteYou talk heavily about the Civil Rights Movement and its origin. I would have loved to see you discuss the impact that segregation has had on adult education in the United States. People of color simply were not afforded the same opportunities that non people of color were which has led to several inequities. The civic engagement of the Civil Rights Movement and the work of many other nameless Americans that have come before then has helped us advance in society, but we still have a long way to go.
